What is Gochujang?

Some like to refer to it as the Korean equivalent of Sriracha or even a Korean miso paste. It brings a burst of flavors with a spice kick that stays on your taste buds. Gochujang can be bought in plastic or glass containers, primarily in the Asian aisle of most grocery stores. It has a shelf life of a year or more, and it can be stored in a refrigerator.

1. Spicy Pork Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients:


- 1 lb ground pork

- 3 tbsp gochujang

- 2 minced garlic cloves

- 1 tsp sesame oil

- Lettuce leaves

Additives such as Kimchi, cucumber, onion and coriander


Instructions:


1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook pork until brown, breaking it into small lumps. Drain fat.

2. Stir in gochujang, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Toss to coat pork.

3. Spoon the pork mixture into lettuce, leave cups, and add the garnish of your choice.

 

2. Gochujang Chicken Wings


Baking with a spicy gochujang glaze makes for juice-promising chicken wings. The chili paste forms a thick glaze on the wings as the wings are baked, a nice blend of sweetness and spice.


Ingredients:


- 3 pieces of wings having removed its skin and trimmed the excess fat while wiping out any outward moisture.

- 1/2 cup gochujang

- 3 tbsp brown sugar

- 1 tbsp soy sauce

- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil

- Sesame seeds to garnish


Instructions:


1. Place the chicken wings in the gochujang mixture and turn and coat the wings with the mixture thoroughly. Place wings on a baking sheet.

2. Bake at 425oF for 25 minutes. Flip and bake for another 25 minutes until the meat is done.

3. Add sesame seeds before serving to complement your steak meal.

 

3. Gochujang Steak Salad


Each recipe is further enhanced with a delicious marinade that includes gochujang for flank steak. The sliced steak and a mixed salad is easy turned into main-dish meal because of the spicy Korean paste.



Ingredients:


- 1 lb flank steak

- 1/4 cup gochujang

- 3 tbsp olive oil

- 3 tbsp lime juice

- Salad greens

¬ onion, cucumber, tomato, avocado, feta and so on.


Instructions:


1. In a plastic bag or dish, combine gochujang with oil and the juice of the lime. Add steak, coat thoroughly. Marinate 30 mins - 1 hour.

2. Grill or broil steak to the desired doneness; let stand for 5 minutes. 

3. Slice steak and place it on top of the salad green and any additional toppings to be added.

 

4. Gochujang Shrimp Tacos

Ingredients:


- One pound shrimp, shelled and Silva 3 

- 2 tbsp gochujang

- 1 tbsp vegetable oil

- 1 lime, juiced

– 8 small tortilla of flour or corn

Lettuce, pico of gal, avocado, etc.


Instructions:


1. After that, preparing a separate bowl, add gochujang, oil and lime juice into it. Add shrimp and toss to coat.

2. Heat a skillet over high heat., Marinate the chops in lemon juice for 10 minutes and season with salt and pepper. Grill shrimp 1- 2 minutes both sides are pink.

3. Serve warm tortillas while it cooks shrimp. Place shrimp and other desired condiments.

 

5. Bibimbap with Gochujang


Of course, the last Korean food list would not be complete without the mention of Bibimbap. They use gochujang differently as the tasty sauce applied on the popular Korean dish.


Ingredients:


- 4 cups cooked white rice

1 cup of cooked lentils or beef

Steamed vegetable selling such as carrot, spinach, onion, zucchini. 

- 2 fried eggs 

- 2 tbsp gochujang

- 1 tbsp sesame oil

- Sesame seeds to garnish


Instructions: 


1. Divide rice between 4 bowls. Place lentils or beef and other vegetables on top of rice. 

2. With the yolk covering it place a fried egg on top of each bowl. Cook rice and diced meat separately and combine them with bibimbap bowls and mix gochujang, sesame oil and sprinkle over the bowl.

3. It is suitable garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
